- Nico Hischier can’t catch a break. The New Jersey Devils captain suffered an upper-body injury against the New York Islanders last Friday. However, after two days off from game action, Hischier was able to play in New Jersey’s following game. Friday night against the Buffalo Sabres, Connor Clifton caught the Devils captain with a big hit in the first period. As a result, it appears Hischier is questionable following an undisclosed injury. - Some very sad news out of Europe: Adam Johnson, a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization for three seasons, has died after an on-ice incident during a professional game in the United Kingdom on Saturday. [Pittsburgh Penguins]
- Patrick Kane’s agent Pat Brisson told ESPN’s Emily Kaplin that he will start talking to teams about his client in early November and then play later that month or early in December. Kane, 34, is 4 1/2 months removed from hip resurfacing surgery. Kaplin further reported that he is already cleared for contact. He has been intensely rehabilitating the injury.[Detroit Red Wings]
- An awful second period by the Colorado Avalanche was made even worse, as thy almost lost Cale Makar on a very questionable hit by Kyle Okposo. While retrieving the puck in his own end, Makar went to go around his own net, and Okposo gave him a shove from behind with his stick, sending the defenseman awkwardly into the boards.
