The NHL Trade Market is officially open, with several trades happening on Wednesday. Former Canadiens trade target Pierre-Luc Dubois was moved to the Washington Capitals in exchange for 34-year-old goaltender Darcy Kuemper. Despite paying a them ransom to acquire Dubois in the first place, the Kings quickly pulled the plug on the experiment just one year into his eight-year contract, which carries a ridiculous $8.5 million annual average value. He’s just 25-years-old, which means he has time to rebound, but the decision to avoid further trade negotiations with the Winnipeg Jets last summer was a wise decision by Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes.
