  • Owen Beck finished his CHL career on a high note by scoring two goals and being named the tournament MVP, but now the real work begins. • The Florida Panthers were back at the IcePlex on Monday morning although no one took the ice what with Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final a few more days away. Coach Paul Maurice even joked that, following Monday’s press session, he is out of material. We doubt that. The Panthers found out their opponent in the Cup Final on Sunday night when the Edmonton Oilers beat the Dallas Stars in Game 6. Game 1 of the Final will be in Sunrise on Saturday night. • The Philadelphia Flyers, like every NHL team, have made plenty of terrible trades over the years. But there’s one Flyers trade that stands out from the rest–especially now. The one that sent Florida Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky to the Columbus Blue Jackets on June 22, 2012, in exchange for a 2012 second-round pick, a 2012 fourth-round pick, and a 2013 fourth-round pick.[Philadelphia Flyers]
  • When the New Jersey Devils addressed their head coaching situation, it closed one door but opened up another. Who will be the supporting cast around Sheldon Keefe? Former Devils interim head coach Travis Green remained supported by assistant coaches Sergei Brylin, Ryan McGill, Chris Taylor, and Dave Ragolski when the Devils fired Lindy Ruff back in March.
