Canadiens Preseason: Newhook Top Line, Slafkovsky Second Line

The Montreal Canadiens (1-2-0) will have an opportunity to avenge their loss as they once again host the Toronto Maple Leafs (2-2-0) at the Bell Centre. The puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

Toronto emerged with a 2-1 win on Friday night, a sleepy matchup that did not offer much entertainment to the Canadiens faithful in attendance.

There were a few silver linings thanks to the play from prospects Joshua Roy and Owen Beck, but overall, it was a rather lacklustre performance by the Habs.

The Canadiens will try to switch things up by icing a much stronger lineup on Saturday, including the return of Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki, who are slated to play with the speedy Alex Newhook.

Juruj Slafkovsky will play with Kirby Dach and Rafael Harvey-Pinard, a combination that worked out nicely the first time they took to the ice in the preseason.

As for the defence, Kaiden Guhle will play with David Reinbacher on the top pairing, whereas Johnathan Kovacevic will stand with William Trudeau on the third pair.

Samuel Montembeault will start for the Canadiens, with Jakub Dobes serving as his backup.
