GOTTA SEE IT: Canadiens Hutson Dazzles With Incredible Goal

Montreal Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson is at it again, scoring a highlight-reel goal for TEAM USA in their 4-1 victory over Austria.

Despite being listed as Team USA‘s seventh defenceman with the arrival of Tyler Kleven, Hutson has been the most exciting rearguard on the team since the first puck drop.

The Montreal Canadiens’ 2nd-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft has been nothing short of exceptional in transition and has looked like a seasoned player on the ice against men.

Hutson continue his inspiring performance on Tuesday, as he not only set up Carter Mazur with a beautiful pass for the go-ahead goal, but scored a highlight-reel goal himself.

Jumping on a loose puck in the defensive zone, the Montreal Canadiens prospect shot up the ice and dangled by sive Austrian players before tipping the puck passed the goaltender and scoring what is likely to be a Goal Of The Tournament contender.

Lane Hutson currently has one goal and three assists for four points in four games; which is the best offensive output on the team for a defenceman at this time, despite playing under 20 minutes a game.

Hutson is seemingly building off an impressive rookie season in the NCAA with Boston University, where he broke Brian Leetch’s mark for the most points by a freshman defenceman in the NCAA in over 30 years.

The talented defender is still set to return to Boston University next season, but you can bet that Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes, and Habs fans around the globe, have to be liking what they’re seeing from the club’s top prospect so far this tournament.

With elimination games coming up next week, it will be very interesting to see if Hutson is able to raise his games when the chips are on the table, just like he did for the Terriers in the NCAA playoffs this spring.
