Montreal Canadiens Top Prospect Rankings – Final List

montreal canadiens prospects

There are few things more interesting than compiling Montreal Canadiens prospect rankings, especially when the list is determined by those who ultimately support the players in the long run.

We still have a couple of articles left to publish, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the fantastic community members who participated in the project, either by sharing the articles, adding their own commentary, or simply reading the 25 articles we recently published.

There was a time when fan knowledge of prospects was limited, to say the least, but we’ve now reached a point where I feel comfortable suggesting that many Habs fans spend as much time, if not more, evaluating prospects as I do, a testament to their dedication to all things Montreal Canadiens.

Due to popular demand, I will publish my personal rankings in the next few days, but that list will pale in importance compared to the one driven by fan votes.

We received nearly 10,000 submissions this year, almost five times more than the previous season, an impressive increase considering the Habs have turned a corner in their rebuild, giving the community ample topics to discuss beyond players who may one day make an impact in the NHL.

Once again, thank you all for your continued support, it means the world to me.

I’d also like to give a stick tap to the good folks over at Elite Prospects. They don’t get enough credit for their fantastic resource, which we often take for granted instead of listing them as a source.

Montreal Canadiens Brass Tacks

There are a handful of prospects that I feel deserve more attention, and we’ll cover those once I publish my list, but overall, Canadiens fans did a very good job ranking the young players in the organization.

Even though Lane Hutson was no longer eligible for our project, it must be said that the Habs still have a very impressive prospect pool, with talent and depth at every position.

After suffering through a frustrating stretch that saw the Canadiens develop roughly one NHL calibre player per decade, there’s no doubt the work done by Jeff Gorton, Ken Hughes, John Sedgwick, and Co. has re-invigorated the fanbase in short order, filling them with legitimate hope, rather than delusions of grandeur.

Without further ado, here are the final 2025 Montreal Canadiens prospect rankings, as voted on by Habs fans. You can click on any of the names listed to open a link to their in-depth profile.

The rebuild is tracking to be likely the best in league history in the cap era in terms of shortness of duration, length of sustainability, player age, cap management and ceiling. So unsurprisingly, we have a high quality prospect pool. Organizational depth will be a key factor in fulfilling potential and maximizing the competitive window time frame. Management has created a strong foundation. I appreciate that they haven’t made moves for short term benefits, they appear to consider the long game- the process is very good.

With a limited number of roster spots, we will have excellent players at every position not in the NHL and that will become increasingly evident by the end of the season and into the next several. Is this the year we become legitimate? It’s these reasons that I think so many Habs fans are following our drafts picks like never before, we can see a path to elite levels and we want to know who will play a part in getting us there. Plus sites like this help fuel the excitement by educating us on the intricacies of the various players in the system worldwide. It’s a very good time to be a Habs fan!

I always find it interesting what other fans think of the Habs prospects. I think that some believe the hype around certain players, and feed of the media’s like or dislike of certain players. Really made evident by Logan Mailoux this past season. But this prospect pool has 6 ligitimate NHL players with 1 superstar, 1 top 3 def and an NHL goalie with starter potential. It’s amazing how things have changed in Montreal. I haven’t had this level of belief in the Habs since the day Mario Trembley was hired !
