Canadiens Trade Talk
Canadiens Trade Mailloux To St-Louis Blues

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Montreal Canadiens have traded defenceman Logan Mailloux to the St-Louis Blues.
Friedman also mentioned it is not a trade that includes Blues forward Jordan Kyrou, a player that has interested in the Montreal Canadiens for over a year.
Logan Mailloux is being traded to STL…this is not a Kyrou deal…working on full move

Mailloux, 22, has enjoyed a fair amount of success in the AHL, and has represented the Laval Rocket at the AHL All-Star Game in two consecutive seasons. The offensively-inclined prospect scored 12 goals and 21 assists in 63 games last season, thanks to his excellent shot and his affinity for taking the right type of shot, however, his defensive acumen left a lot to be desired.
As a right-handed defenceman, Mailloux surely garnered a fair amount of interest on the trade market, but he was made redundant by the recent trade that saw Noah Dobson join the Canadiens via a trade with the New York Islanders.
Dobson, 25, was acquired during the draft weekend, costing the Canadiens a pair of first-round picks, as well as prospect Emil Heineman. He then proceeded to sign an eight-year contract that carries a $9.5 million annual average value.
As for the return, Mailloux netted the Canadiens an interesting forward, right winger Zachary Bolduc, which means the trade was one-for-one.
Bolduc, 22, scored 19 goals and 17 assists in 72 games for the Blues last year. He also maintains excellent underlying numbers. He is best suited for top-six usage, however, his defensive prowess should not be ignored.
INSTANT ANALYSIS: What Zachary Bolduc Brings To The Table For the Canadiens
While I was excited to see Mailloux offensive capabilities flourish on this Habs team, he did always have baggage with him and this wasn’t a pick made by the current management. His defensive game was of concern and while there’s a lot of potential there, he was moved for a top 6 talent the Habs forward group desperately needs. Bolduc put up 19 goals in his first full NHL season. Given the right line mates and PP time there’s no reason he couldn’t score 25-30 in a full season this year.
