Montreal Canadiens News

We have a decent idea of the top prospects that should be available at 16th and 17th overall for the Montreal Canadiens. And now that Bob McKenzie has released his final consolidated rankings for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, the likely targets are becoming even more evident[McKenzie Draft Rankings Give Insight To Potential Canadiens Pick]

The 2025 HHoF class includes Montreal Victoire general manager and hockey legend Daniel Savageau. She was inducted as a builder, which is fitting since few people have worked harder to grow the sport.

Savageau was very busy on Tuesday. On top of the draft, she also traded Kristen O’Neill to the New York Sirens for forward Abby Roque. Considering the Victoire had depth issues last year, this is an excellent trade as Roque produces much more than O’Neill while also engaging in physical play with much more frequency.

The Montreal Victoire lost Anna Wilgren to Seattle in the PWHL expansion draft, but they added talented defenceman Nicole Gosling to the mix in the first round of the entry draft. Let’s see if they’ll be allowed to hold onto their draft picks this time around, because the expansion absolutely butchered last year’s draft.

The Florida Panthers are back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions after beating the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 on Tuesday night in Sunrise. After a season full of ups and downs and a rematch against the Oilers which was one for the ages, the Florida Panthers have claimed hockey’s ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup, for the second year in a row. A 17-year-old big Czech defenseman is rising quickly in rankings and mock drafts. Radim Mrtka towered above most of his fellow draftees at the NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo last month, and didn’t know that he actually had dinner with Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas. It’s been a very busy Tuesday on Long Island. First, New York Islanders’ General Manager Mathieu Darche held his pre-draft press conference at 10 a.m. [NY Islanders]

I have to say, I was quite surprised that Price did not get a call from the HHOF yesterday. He may not have won a Cup, but his international resume is absolutely stellar, plus he won a Calder Cup, plus he has a Hart, Vézina, Ted Lindsay award. He was better at his craft than Weber was at his, and he got in on his first year of eligibility. Lundqvist and Luongo got in without Cups. The HHOF finally dealt with the Mogilny fiasco after almost 2 decades. Let’s hope Carey isn’t waiting that long. The HHOF has lowered the standards quite a bit in the past decade or so. It’s a bit insulting that Price didn’t get in on his first opportunity.
