Canadiens Analysis
Top Canadiens Prospect Ivan Demidov Is Making History
Fresh off a three-goal performance against Vityaz, top Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov has now scored 19 goals and 21 assists in 48 games.
This places him just two points behind Kirill Kaprizov for the most productive Under-20 season in league history. He’s also just one goal away from tying Kaprizov for the league record in goals scored for a U-20 player.
Seeing as Demidov is set to play many more games this year, there’s very little doubt he will emerge from the 2024-25 season with the most goals, assists, and points in league history (U-20).

As we all know, not all ice time is handed out equally, which is why we’re going to take this a step further and verify how Demidov’s points per 60 scoring rate compares to his counterparts.
Why are we taking this route? Well, much of it has to do with the odd usage given to Demidov to start the season.
For example, after receiving multiple accolades to start the season, Demidov was demoted to the fourth line in early October, a six-game stretch that saw him receive less than eight minutes of ice time per night. He received just 6:50, 3:17, 5:31, 3:22, 4:07, and 7:32 of TOI, respectively, over the course of those games.
There was also a seven-game stretch in mid-November that featured another significant downtick in ice time. It wasn’t as bad as October’s demotion, but he was relegated to less than 10 minutes of ice time per game.
To get a better idea of how well he’s playing, we will judge his production based on his ice time, and then compare it to the other players who enjoyed fantastic U-20 seasons in the KHL.
As you can see, due to Demidov receiving the least amount of ice time per game than his competition, he’s producing much more than anyone on the list in terms of points per 60 minutes of ice time (all situations).
With that being established, we can safely say that Montreal Canadiens prospect Ivan Demidov is currently enjoying the most productive U-20 season in KHL history.
