GOTTA SEE IT: Josh Anderson Demolishes Jacob Trouba In Fight

There’s no doubt the Montreal Canadiens were aiming for retribution after New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba delivered one of his many questionable hits in a previous game, and forward Josh Anderson wasted no time making it happen.

Trouba ended up landing a massive hit that clearly caught Justin Barron’s head the last time these two teams met. Of course, Trouba has a long history of headshots, but the NHL has done a terrible job attempting to deter hits to the head, which is why teams have to take matters into their own hands, especially when someonelike Trouba is involved.

Shortly after puck drop in Saturday’s early afternoon game, the speedy Habs winger dropped the gloves, inviting Trouba to dance while both were fresh, rather than fighting at the end of the shift.

You could say Trouba immediately regretted his decision, as Anderson landed a series of blows that left the hard-hitting defenceman scrambling. Trouba attempted to throw a few punches of his own, but nothing landed, making it an obvious one-sided win for Anderson.

Anderson was clearly motivated, as he quickly reset once Trouba managed to get away, which led to yet another series of heavy punches.

Josh Anderson Versus Jacob Trouba Fight

This is far from Anderson’s first fight since joining the Canadiens, but seeing as his role has changed this season, he has taken it upon himself to up his physicality. In addition to an uptick in fights, Anderson has been ferocious on the forecheck and quick to respond to dirty hits by opponents.

Ideally, more goals would be included in the equation, but he does deserve credit for re-inventing himself now that he’s  starting to slow down in terms of production. Anderson, 30, has four goals and six assists in 22 games this season.

Montreal needs this if they want to compete.
Marty teaching them nothing.
We need a proper coach.

Trouba was probably elated, at first, that he wasn’t challenged by Xhekaj. Until Anderson started pummeling him. And when they lost their grip, Anderson chased Trouba down and gave him some more. A well deserved thrashing of a bully.

I have suggested the Habs should try to sign Olivier, and I still do. A trio of Xhekaj, Olivier and Anderson would be formidable indeed.
