Rookie Camp: How To Watch Game 2 – Canadiens Vs. Maple Leafs
The Montreal Canadiens will once again face the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Bell Centre, as both teams will play the final leg of back-to-back games to close out their rookie camps. The puck drop is scheduled for 1 pm ET.
Updated Highlights: Mailloux, Thorpe, and Reinbacher Stand Out In Game 2
The Leafs won the first matchup on Saturday, owning to a 4-3 shootout win. But despite the loss, it’s more than fair to say that some of the key Canadiens players performed well, and that includes two of their top defensive prospects. Lane Hutson led the charge on the top pairing, while Adam Engstrom provided the best value on the second pairing. Hutson finished the game with one assist, whereas Engstrom scored the team’s opening goal thanks to his elite skating.
The game also featured a spirited tilt in the first period, in which Florian Xhekaj overpowered Ryan McCreary with ease.
Updated Highlights: Lane Hutson and Adam Engstrom Shine Versus the Maple Leafs
Of course, not everyone had a great game, par for the course when you consider how much rust and pre-game jitters were at play. We won’t suggest they had a poor outing against the Leafs yesterday, but Sunday will be a good opportunity for players such as Filip Mesar and David Reinbacher to find their rhythm prior to the Canadiens opening their main camp.
We have to keep in mind the man behind the bench is Pascal Vincent, and he will be in charge of roster decisions in the AHL for the Laval Rocket this season, making this a fantastic chance for several prospects to impress their future head coach. On that note, Vincent surely liked what he saw from Owen Beck, the best forward on the ice in the first game. As for Sean Farrell, Jared Davidson, Emil Heineman, and Riley Kidney, it would be unfair to suggest they weren’t a factor on Saturday, but there’s definitely some room for improvement when it comes to their decision-making and speed of execution.
When it comes to the Leafs rookies, there are two forwards that clearly warrant more attention than the others: Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan. Those of you who follow my coverage are probably already sick of me waxing poetically about Cowan’s NHL potential, so we won’t go down that road, but suffice it to say the Habs will improve their odds of winning if they can shut down Toronto’s fantastic duo.

How to Watch or Stream The Montreal Canadiens vs. The Toronto Maple Leafs Game on Sunday
The rookie camp game between the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs will be televised on RDS. The Canadiens had originally intended to have the first game on their website, as well as all their social media accounts, however, the stream only came out midway through the game, and it was restricted to their website. If the Canadiens do get a stream up before puck drop, we will update our article with the proper links.
In the meantime, make sure to check the Toronto Maple Leafs website, as they will definitely host a stream of Sunday’s game against the Canadiens.
You keep writing it was a fight with Ryan McCleary. I’m pretty sure it was Chas Sharpe
Why is the leafs livestream just of the penalty box today?
