Nicolas Cloutier spoke to Canadiens prospect David Reinbacher, discussing a variety of topics, including how he’s aiming for a roster spot with the Habs next season, as well as the pressure he will face in the league. It’s also worth noting Reinbacher will face Juraj Slafkovsky toward the end of the month as Austria and Slovakia begin their Olympic qualifiers. [TVA Sports (FR)]

The odds that Sidney Crosby would leave the Penguins are quite low, even if he’s yet to sign an extension. That being said, if there’s a player that would be a perfect fit for the #GoHabsGo rebuild, it’s definitely Crosby. He’s quickly approaching 40 years old, but his impact is impossible to ignore. The Habs are set to release yet another behind-the-scenes draft video. Last year’s video was short on details, but it’s still a very interesting look at the thought process behind the scouting team’s preparation for the big day. Hopefully they add a few Celine Dion behind-the-scenes clips to the mix.

Speaking of the draft, full marks to Jeff Gorton for his sales job prior to picking Ivan Demidov with the fifth overall pick. I have to admit, I got the slight impression he wasn’t particularly interested in Demidov after this particular presser. That being said, Gorton is the type of executive that likes to push his team toward picking up players with elite talent, such as Demidov, so perhaps I was a little too naive.

Prospect Vinzenz Rohrer was named the ‘Youngest Of The Year’ in the NL. The 19-year-old forward played a third-line role for Zurich, helping them capture the league championship with his Gallagheresque style of play. Rohrer was ranked 15th in our 2024 Montreal Canadiens summer prospect rankings. [Canadiens Prospect Rankings – The Talented And Underrated]

With the NHL off season officially in mid-August, many unrestricted free agents have already signed with their teams. One of the names still on the market, however, is longtime winger Max Pacioretty. [Washington Capitals]

The St. Louis Blues announced Tuesday morning that they had signed Edmonton Oilers defenceman Phillip Broberg and forward Dylan Holloway to offer sheets, meaning that the Philadelphia Flyers are now down two potential options to both bolster their roster and add young talent. [Ottawa Senators]

The NHL Network — who is filled with experts of the game and even former players — are currently ranking the top 20 players in each position. When it comes to the top wingers of the game, they left out one glaring omission, courtesy of the New Jersey Devils. [New Jersey Devils]
