  • Juraj Slafkovsky’s nice goal versus the Washington Capitals is getting attention throughout the league.

  • The Habs reassigned forward Lucas Condotta to the AHL. He will join the Laval Rocket and is expected to be in uniform on Saturday. This could be the sign that centre Alex Newhook is just about to be cleared to play.

  • Centre Jake Evans was not present at practice. The team announced he took a therapy day instead.

  • Is that Jake Allen’s music? Despite the New Jersey Devils’ struggles this season, a report suggests General Manager Tom Fitzgerald will remain aggressive ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline. • The NHL trade deadline might clear a path for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Believe it or not, the Penguins have the inside track to not only a playoff spot but third place in the Metro Division. First or second place is a bit of a pipe dream, as they’re 10 points back of the Carolina Hurricanes with only three games in hand. [Pittsburgh Penguins]

  • the Winnipeg Jets gave up a first-rounder and a conditional third-rounder to acquire Sean Monahan, another name the Avalanche had been linked to. The market appears to be set for the NHL Trade Deadline. If you want a center, it’s likely going to cost a first-round pick. [Colorado Avalanche]
