Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield participated in a lie-detector test with the NHL that revealed some fairly shocking truths about the 22-year-old forward.

Or rather, depending on how you look at it, some revealing lies.

Before we get going, we should point out that lie detectors aren’t exactly trustworthy and the skit was done in good humour. No one should take offence to the results, or rather, the jokes. It’s perfectly fine to take a break from all the stress-inducing discussions that surround professional sports so that everyone can have a good laugh.

In other words, don’t take the fun lie detector test seriously.

The test started with asking Caufield if he watches Reality TV, to which Caufield answered yes and was confirmed to be true. He then stated he didn’t think he’d be good on a show like The Bachelor, which was a lie.

And then the bombshell.

“Are you a fan of poutine?” asked the host. “No,” Caufield quickly responded.

He was not lying about his distaste for the legendary Québécois dish according to the lie detector.

“It doesn’t make sense,” said Caufield with a wry smile. “Just leave them alone! I like mayo and ranch.”

The host rightfully questioned his love for ranch while also denying poutine’s fantastic combination of delicious fries, hearty gravy, and squeaky cheese.

The host then asked Caufield if he wished Nick Suzuki would pass the puck a little more often. He protested, saying he thought Suzuki should take more shots.

As fate would have it, that was a lie as well.
