Montreal Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson

Montreal Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson is used to doing spectacular things on the ice, and as expected, he has been up to his old tricks at the 2023 World Junior Showcase in Michigan.

MUST READ: Prospect Lane Hutson Shattered All Expectations

Hutson scored a great goal for Team USA White to put them up 6-0 against Team Sweden. It was a fantastic individual effort from the 19-year-old defenceman, who has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in hockey due to his offensive instincts and elite anticipation.

Here’s another angle of the beautiful goal, which definitely warrants another watch. Not only did he make his way to the back of the net with the greatest of ease, the high-flying defenceman confused and evaded two Swedish defenders before making his way to the front of the net for a high-danger scoring chance.

As is often the case, Hutson made no mistake, capitalizing on his individual effort to score a magical goal.

Hutson is expected to play a big role in Team USA’s bid to improve their results at the 2024 World Junior Championship, which takes place in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Hutson also set up a very nice goal early in the game to give Team USA White a 2-0 lead, springing William Whitelaw on a breakaway with a quick, efficient, and accurate pass.

We often discuss Hutson’s impact when he generates scoring chances out of nowhere, as he did in the clip above, but his playmaking should not be dismissed. He’s constantly creating open space for his opponents, and delivering perfect passes in high-danger areas.

As for the other Montreal Canadiens prospect participating in the 2023 World Junior Showcase, goaltender Jacob Fowler, things got off to a much better start compared to his last outing, which resulted in a shutout loss against Team Sweden.

Fowler and Team USA Blue earned a 4-0 shutout win against Team Finland, which included a few nice saves from the Habs netminder.
