2023 NHL Draft Primer: Time, Date, Team Picks, and Information

Here is all the information you’ll need to get ready for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, which is hosted by the Predators in Nashville, including a complete draft list for every team participating in the Draft.

When does the NHL Draft Take Place?

The first round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft will be on June 28, starting at 7 PM ET. You can watch the event on ESPN, Sportsnet, or TVA Sports.

Each team is allowed to take up to five minutes to make their first-round selection, which means the first round should last roughly two hours. However, in the past, the first round has taken up to three hours seeing as some teams use timeouts when they’re struggling to make a decision. In the past, every team was given five 5-minute timeouts.

When Is The Second Day Of The 2023 NHL Draft?

The second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft will take place on June 29, starting at 11 AM ET. It can be viewed on the NHL network, TVA Sports, and Sportsnet.

Things move much quicker during the second round compared to the first. Teams are given just three minutes to make their selections. It’s impossible to gauge exactly how long Day 2 will last, but it’s usually over toward 4 or 5 PM ET.
