- The Florida Panthers decided to stick with Sergei Bobrovsky in the deciding game of their first-round series against the Boston Bruins. Bobrovsky had won his past two starts — making saves on 73 of 81 shots (90 percent) — and was attempting to knock out his second No. 1 seed in the past five years. [Florida Panthers]
- Red Wings assistant general manager Shawn Horcoff recently was completing his first full season as assistant GM of the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins, Detroit’s top farm club. He’ll be the first to tell you that it didn’t go well. For the second year in a row, the Griffins are absentees as the Calder Cup playoffs are taking place. - Since winning three Game 7’s en route to the 2011 Stanley Cup, the Boston Bruins have struggled in Game 7’s. The Bruins entered Game 7 against the Florida Panthers with a record of 3-4 in the do-or-die Game 7’s since that 2010-11 Bruins squad beat the Montreal Canadiens (first round), Tampa Bay Lightning (third round), and Vancouver Canucks in a seven-game Stanley Cup final.
