MONTREAL — There’s never a dull moment when it comes to the Montreal Canadiens, but many fans lead a very busy life, meaning it’s not always possible to keep up to date with every news story.

But don’t worry, we’re here to help!

Every Sunday we will recap the most exciting and relevant news stories that you may have missed throughout the week.

Monday

  • The Montreal Canadiens may not have much momentum heading into the NHL Trade Deadline, but the rapidly thinning rental market could quickly change things.
  • With the injuries now mounting on a daily basis for the Montreal Canadiens, it’s looking likely that they’ll match an ominous NHL record they set last season.
  • The Montreal Canadiens got some good and bad news at practice today, but things are starting to become worrisome regarding Sean Monahan.
  • .

Tuesday

  • In the latest edition of the Habs mailbag, we cover a lot of ground, focusing on the upcoming trade deadline, potential deals, Pierre-Luc Dubois’ value, the future for Rafael Havey-Pinard and Samuel Montembeault, defensive decisions, hot sauce, and much more.
  • The many injuries sustained by Montreal Canadiens veterans could force a strategy shift by Kent Hughes leading up to the NHL Trade Deadline.
  • Fans were treated to new lines and new defensive pairings as head coach Martin St-Louis decided to shuffle the lineup ahead of Tuesday’s game against the New Jersey Devils.
  • Montembeault had yet another fantastic game for the Canadiens, powering them to a 5-2 win over the high-flying Devils.

Wednesday

  • Sean Farrell maintained his grip on the No.1 spot in our Canadiens Prospect Power Rankings, but strong weeks from players like Riley Kidney, Joshua Roy, and Adam Engstrom kept things interesting in the top 10.
  • The early results from the Jeff Petry and Mike Matheson trade are encouraging for Kent Hughes and the Canadiens.
  • Almost every hockey Insider has linked Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Habs, with Elliotte Friedman mentioning the situation in his latest 32 Thoughts article.
  • Former Canadiens captain Shea Weber was traded from the Vegas Golden Knights to the Arizona Coyotes, finally putting an end to the insurance-based saga. The Coyotes received a fifth-round pick for absorbing Weber’s contract.

Thursday

  • Harvard Crimson captain Henry Thrun has advised the Anaheim Ducks he will not sign a contract following the conclusion of his NCAA career. Given Kent Hughes’ background, the interesting prospect should be very familiar to Canadiens management.
  • Habs fans submitted proposals for the upcoming trade deadline and we analyzed the results. Let’s just say it was a little more difficult than anticipated to put together a trade that works for two teams.
  • The Canadiens announced Joel Edmundson is progressing nicely, but centre Kirby Dach’s illness has become serious and is now considered a lower-body injury.
  • Consequently, the Canadiens claimed centre Chris Tierney off waivers from the Florida Panthers. Tierney has two goals and one assist in 19 games with the Panthers this season.

Friday

  • The Laval Rocket call-ups like Rafaël Harvey-Pinard and Justin Barron have put up some impressive offence this season, providing clutch performances in the face of all these injuries.
  • Pittsburgh Penguins forward Kasperi Kapanen has been made available waivers, but claiming him may not be the best idea for the Canadiens.
The Montreal Canadiens are looking to become cap brokers leading up to the NHL Trade Deadline. But, before they can do that, they need some clarity on a few subjects.

Saturday

  • Top Canadiens Sean Farrell is focused on bringing an NCAA championship home to Harvard, but has an attentive eye on Montreal. Check out the full interview.
