GOTTA SEE IT: Canadiens Prospect Roy Dominant Versus USA

Montreal Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy has enjoyed a very successful 2023 World Junior Championship tournament, showing a notable increase in confidence following every game.
He’s far from the only Canadiens prospect that has impressed in Halifax and Moncton, but in Roy’s case, the story is still being written.
His confidence was on full display on Wednesday night, as Team Canada faced Team USA in the semi-final match-up that would determine which country would make its way to the gold-medal game.
The game is currently ongoing, with Canada holding a 4-2 lead over the USA after two periods of play.

Roy started the game by setting up Canada’s first goal, scored by none other than Connor Bedard, who took advantage of Roy’s faceoff win. It’s impossible to ignore the chemistry between these two dynamic players.

Roy followed it up with yet another crucial assist, this time on Logan Stankoven’s game-tying goal in the second period.

The tournament has also provided Roy with an opportunity to show off his well-rounded skill set. His work on the penalty kill has been nothing short of impressive, powered by pure determination and work ethic.

He wasn’t done there. Thanks to his offensive awareness and top-notch positioning, the Canadiens prospect scored his fourth goal of the tournament shortly thereafter, putting an exclamation point on Canada’s dominant second period.
The three-point effort (and counting) places Roy among the most productive players at the 2023 World Junior Championship, with four goals and six assists in six games.
It can be very difficult to stand out in these types of tournaments, especially when you’re playing on a line with a generational talent such as Connor Bedard, but Roy has done a great job distinguishing himself on any given night due to his great work in all three zones.
There’s still one period left to play in the semifinal, but there’s no doubt Canadiens prospect Joshua Roy has been the most valuable player for Canada so far.
