Montreal Canadiens rookie Kaiden Guhle fired home a beautiful shot to score his first career NHL goal.

The Canadiens rookie took a nice dish from defensive partner David Savard and unleashed a rocket for his first career goal. The release on the shot really jumps out at you, as Guhle was able to unload the puck extremely quick and beat Eric Comrie high.

The goal has been a long-time coming for the 16th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, as he has quickly become one of the most important, if not the most important, defenceman on the Canadiens’ roster.

Joining Arber Xhekaj and Jordan Harris with goals in their first 10 games as Canadiens, Guhle looks like he’s primed to build off this and continue to grow.

With Guhle forming the top pairing for the Canadiens with veteran David Savard in Mike Matheson’s stead, he’s beeen called to play some big minutes for the club and will be deployed in key situations, especially at even strength and on the PK.

It may have only been a few games, but the 20-year-old played like a seasoned veteran lining up against Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner on a regular basis.

Guhle’s strong play at 1-on1s as well as his quick transition game has made him an essential piece of the team moving forward, and continues to show management he should be a key part of the future on the blue line.

The next coming games will be interesting for Guhle, as the Canadiens as they continue on their road trip. If he can come out of those games as well as has the last few games, it will go a long way in convincing management that he shouldn’t be bumped down the lineaup when Matheson returns from injury in about a month’s time.
