Patrick Roy Met With Montreal Canadiens Brass In Brossard
Former Montreal Canadiens goaltender Patrick Roy was in Brossard on Monday morning to be around the team and meet with the team’s management group.
According to TVA Sports, Renaud Lavoie, the Hall of Famer goaltender was in town, as his Quebec Remparts were set to face the Blainville Boisbriand Armada an hour north of Brossard, and decided to pay the Montreal Canadiens a visit.
In a new initiative instilled by this new management team, the Canadiens’ alumni are now being encouraged to visit the players and management group in Brossard. It’s a new push towards linking the past legends of the club with the young and emerging core of players that will lead the Canadiens into the future.
Lavoie also mentioned that Roy met and spent some time with general manager Kent Hughes and executive Vice President Jeff Gorton during his stop off in Brossard. There is a growing sense that Roy isn’t long for a role in the QMJHL, as he took a long period of time to decide to return for this current campaign.
Whether or not there was a discussion about his future with the team is unknown at this time, but having a legend like Roy spend time around the young players of the club from time to time can only be positive in building a new winning culture within the team.

Discontent In The QMJHL
Roy took a long time this summer to decide whether he was up to return to the QMJHL for an 11th season as head coach of the Quebec Remparts, sighting the travel and time needed to run the team was becoming a lot to handle. Roy has not been shy about discussing a needed change of scenery and has not shied away in the past from his desire to secure a role with an NHL club, most recently with the Montreal Canadiens.
With his future in doubt in the Q, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Roy try to make the jump to the NHL and reduce the travel and time-demanding schedule he’s been used to for the last 15 years.
