The Montreal Canadiens invited 74 players to training camp this year, but those numbers have now dropped considerably after a third wave of cuts.

With several high-end prospects attending the Montreal Canadiens training camp, you could excuse a relatively quiet outing from a player like Emil Heineman.

The Habs acquired Kirby Dach to mould him into a big, top-six centre with good vision and great transition play; things he showed glimpses of against the Winnipeg Jets.

Canada Hockey Now

CGY: Michael Stone is all in on the Calgary Flames, something he’s shown for many years.

PGH: The Pittsburgh Penguins have whittled their training-camp roster to 45 by assigning nine players to their farm team in Wilkes-Barre.

PHI: The Philadelphia Flyers reduced their training camp roster by 20 players Friday, sending 18 to the AHL’s Phantoms and putting forwards Isaac Ratcliffe and Linus Sandin on waivers.

WSH: The Washington Capitals made more cuts on Friday, assigning 18 players and placing four on waivers.

FLA: The Florida Panthers upset some (key word: some) of their most ardent fans when word leaked over the summer that the team would change their goal song for the upcoming season.

DET: Detroit Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde isn’t looking for perfection from his players. He’s looking for progress. Day-to-day improvement.

VGK: On Thursday, QMJHL forward Joe Fleming signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights

SJS: Could top San Jose Sharks prospect Thomas Bordeleau get moved to wing to start the season?

DAL: As promised, the Dallas Stars decreased their roster size again on Friday, but cutting six players from training camp.
