Watch: Cole Caufield Sniping At Training Camp

Cole Caufield

The Montreal Canadiens have had two days of scrimmage so far, and Cole Caufield already looks to be in mid-season form.

Caufield has been a man on a mission so far at camp, playing a fluid game and showing off his extra gear while skating at full speed. One thing that has remained the same with Cole has been his ability to snipe in any given situation.

After hitting a few posts in the first scrimmage game on Friday, he gave fans something to fawn over on Saturday with a snipe that had many in the stands chuckling.

The Canadiens then posted a slow-mo of the goal for fans who didn’t have the luxury of a stream to view and enjoy; as it truly outlines the speed and precision of Caufield’s release.

Caufield had shown a little bit of what he could do in practice earlier in the week, as seen in the video below, but it was another thing entirely to see him do it in a game setting with even less time to pick his spot and unleash his shot.

Heading into the final year of his entry-level contract, Cole Caufield looks primed for a breakout season this year; as he was finally able to recharge, train and improve his conditioning leading up to training camp. After refusing an invite to represent his country at the World’s, Caufield spent the majority of the summer training in Plymouth, Michigan with other USNDT alums; which helped him fine-tune game against top NHL competition before making his way back to Montreal for training camp.

With a full summer of rest to focus and regroup, you may be seeing many more snipe jobs from Cole Caufield this season; and that would be the kind of development general manager Kent Hughes will be looking for as this young core continues to grow and improve.
