The Philadelphia Flyers are desperate to return to the spring dance this season, and the Montreal Canadiens should swoop in to take advantage.

With several players having been announced as injured at training camp, a handful of Montreal Canadiens prospects will have a perfect opportunity to showcase their talents.

The Montreal Canadiens aren’t projected to have a particularly strong season, but a stacked 2023 NHL Draft class is likely to instantly reward the hardship of a losing season.

VAN: With 53 skaters and six goalies attending Vancouver Canucks training camp there are plenty of players to choose from, but we’re starting with three.

FLA: After steadily improving over the first five years of his career, Matthew Tkachuk established himself as an NHL star in 2021-22. How will he do this season with the Florida Panthers?

DET: Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman wants top prospect Simon Edvinsson on that wall. He needs him on that well. But he’s not going to let Edvinsson stand post until he has earned that right.

COL: The role of second-line centre for the Colorado Avalanche will be hotly contested at training camp between Evan Rodriguez and Alex Newhook.

VGK: Vegas Golden Knight’s general manager Kelly McCrimmon provided injury and status updates on several players and the news was less than ideal.

SJS: San Jose Sharks GM Mike Grier made his stance clear on the possibility of the Czech Republic refusing to issue visas to visiting Russian NHL players.
