Montreal Canadiens general manager finally found what he believed to be the right fit for Jeff Petry and his team on the NHL trade market. Late Saturday afternoon, Hughes sent Petry and centre Ryan Poehling to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Montreal native and defenceman Mike Matheson and a 2023 fourth round pick.

Speaking of the NHL trade market, Hughes may not be done. Could Kirby Dach‘s time with the Canadiens be over before it begins on the ice?
