The NHL trade market has exploded in the last two days and the Montreal Canadiens jumped into the action Wednesday night.

The Canadiens also placed Mathieu Perreault on waivers Wednesday.

Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens finally traded defenceman Ben Chiarot on Wednesday night, sending him to the Florida Panthers.

Before the Habs traded Chiarot, they placed forward Mathieu Perreault on waivers. They also announced that Jake Allen will start against the Dallas Stars on Thursday at the Bell Centre. Could both players be on the move before the deadline?

The Canadiens are one of three teams in hot pursuit of Minnesota Wild prospect Jake McBain.
