Does Brendan Gallagher want to be part of the exodus of Montreal Canadiens veteran players on the NHL trade market or stick around to help the rebuild?

Who will be the next Montreal Canadiens veteran to get moved?

The New York Islanders haven’t put the ‘Open For Business’ sign up yet on the NHL trade market but there’s already plenty of chatter surrounding them.

That and more in the latest Canadiens Wrap:

Montreal Canadiens

As the Montreal Canadiens continue to find dance partners on the NHL trade market and reshape their roster and cap situation, it appears veteran winger Brendan Gallagher doesn’t want to be part of the exodus and is willing to stay for the rebuild.

So who will be the next Montreal Canadiens veteran to move on the NHL trade market and what could the Habs get in return?

The Habs see the captain potential in Nick Suzuki but they’re not about to force him into the role.

National Hockey Now

Philly: Amidst rampant NHL trade rumors on him every day, Claude Giroux addressed that and other topics. Our man in Philly, Sam Carchidi, came away thinking that it sure sounds like Giroux’s time is done with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Vegas: Jack Eichel made his Vegas Golden Knights debut Wednesday night, but the Colorado Avalanche shut out the Vegas Golden Knights.

Colorado: From the flip side, the Avs beat a team they think is unofficially cheating with their cap space situation. Check Adrian Dater’s headline for the victorious Colorado Avalanche.

Vancouver: It was a scary moment for Canucks prospect Jack Rathbone who was stretchered off the ice in Bakersfield (AHL).

NYI: With their season all but a wash, NHL trade chatter is circling around the New York Islanders, and once again forward Jordan Eberle finds himself part of the banter.

Washington: Could Victor Olofsson be a fit with the Washington Capitals if they could pry him away from the Buffalo Sabres on the NHL trade market

Florida: The Florida Panthers continued to be the comeback kids in a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Florida Panthers recap.

While the Flyers continue to scout potential trade suitors for Giroux, namely the Avalanche, Elliotte Friedman points out (in his most recent 32 Thoughts) that Boston College defenseman Drew Helleson is an Avs prospect the Flyers may like. Friedman also mentioned that no one should sleep on the Florida Panthers when it comes to Giroux or any big-name player for that matter.

On Wednesday, Friedman also reported that Toronto Raptors Vice-President of Basketball Operations & Player Development Teresa Resch is a candidate for the open Chicago Blackhawks general manager job.

Per Darren Dreger, the Buffalo Sabres are listening to trade offers on defenseman Colin Miller, Robert Hagg, and Cody Eakin.

Finally, congrats to the Canadian Women’s Olympic hockey team on another win over Team USA for a gold medal. This rivalry has easily surpassed the Men’s rivalry between the border countries.
